QUARTERLY SHOWCASE PROJECT
BACK YARD REIMAGINED
We were contacted by a homeowner in St Paul who wanted to transform their backyard and replace the existing masonry stoop with a small porch with room for seating. This was especially rewarding as we were able to combine several of our specialties into one project.
01. Planning & Design
Tim Fuller Architects created a plan for the project. We coordinated with him and the homeowner throughout the process to incorporate various items while maintaining the visual identity created.
02. Demo & Site Prep
We started by breaking up the existing concrete stoop and sidewalk. We hauled off all the debris and prepared the site for new footings and formwork.
03. Formwork & Concrete
After removal of the old concrete, we excavated and brought in crushed concrete as a base under the new sidewalk. We compacted the base and built formwork before pouring and broom finishing the walk.
04. Framing & Decking
We framed the porch on top of newly poured frost footings. The framing was all done with pressure-treated lumber. We installed TimberTech Terrain Silver Maple decking. Bonus cat inspection shown.
05. Railings & Trim
After the decking was finished we installed Westbury Aluminum Railings. The posts were wrapped and custom skirting was built out with TruExterior Boral Trim.
06. Fencing & Topsoil
We installed a cedar fence between the garage and property line to add some privacy to the yard. We also brought in topsoil next to the new sidewalk to allow grass to grow.
07. Finished Project & Testimonial
This was a very fun project for us, we were able to show off our skills and were very pleased to deliver such a transformation.
The homeowners were pleased as well -- which is the most important part.

"Zach did a great job replacing our old concrete stairs and stoop with a new deck, sidewalks, and more. He was prompt, communicative, responsive, and patient with me as we modified the design a bit as we went along. He answers texts, phone calls, and emails promptly which makes him a delight to work with.
Zach is super organized and professional in every way. He is a great problem solver and super resourceful.
Zach is also a man who is happy with his work. He literally whistles as he works, which sure beats playing music I don't like as some builders do!
I highly recommend him for any construction or handyman-type project. He's the real deal."
